The Universe Always Knows: A Lesson in Transformation

Sometimes, the universe surprises us in the most unexpected ways. We may receive a message, the message may find us, or perhaps we are the message for someone else. These moments may feel random, but they are always divinely guided.

On Thursday, November 21st, I experienced one of those moments while sitting in a hair salon. As I waited for my turn, I glanced at the astrological placements for the day. The Moon and Mars were in Leo—so fitting since I was about to have my “mane” trimmed and dyed. The Sun and Mercury were in Sagittarius, beautifully aligning with my Ascendant in Sagittarius, while Venus in Capricorn occupied my second house of self-worth, value, and money.

The transit of the North Node in Aries and Chiron in Aries pointed to a powerful theme for the day: healing, independence, and walking away from codependency (represented by the Libra South Node). Little did I know how this would play out during my visit.

An Unexpected Connection

As an empathetic person, I felt a strong connection with my stylist. She was open, warm, and willing to share her story. I felt an intuitive nudge to ask for her birth information so I could read her chart. She agreed, and what I discovered was fascinating: she was a Libra Rising, a sign ruled by Venus, the planet of beauty and balance. Her Venus was in Aquarius in the fifth house, a placement that emphasizes creativity and individuality.

What struck me was the duality of Libra energy—it can manifest as either a need for control or a more free-flowing, harmonious energy. As she spoke, she shared her deep need for control, explaining how she worked alone in her salon because she struggled to rely on others. This resonated with her Chiron in Aries and her Venus placement. She needed independence to express her creativity fully.

Cosmic Ironies and Synchronicities

It was ironic, yet perfect, that she was a Capricorn Sun. This aligned with the Venus-in-Capricorn transit currently moving through my second house of money and value. Venus governs self-care and beauty, and there I was, paying her (Capricorn = work) for her services (Venus = hair and beauty). It was a cosmic exchange of energy and value.

As we continued talking, she revealed that she was 47 years old, which placed her in her 12th house perfection year—a time astrologically known for endings, transformation, and letting go. When I asked if she felt something was coming to an end, she opened up about her struggle in an unbalanced relationship with a narcissistic partner. She wanted to leave but felt unable to because of their children.

The Struggle Between Comfort and Transformation

Her chart reflected her struggle. As a Libra Rising with Chiron in the 7th house, she had a natural tendency toward codependent and unbalanced relationships, coupled with a fear of being alone. When I asked if she stayed in the relationship out of love or for financial and emotional comfort, she admitted it was for the comfort.

I shared my perspective as someone who grew up with divorced parents. I told her, from a child’s point of view, it’s far better to see a parent happy and single than trapped in an unhappy relationship. I reminded her that her 12th house perfection year was a time to let go of what no longer served her.

Her Scorpio North Node holds the promise of deep transformation. It urges her to step into her power and find true happiness, even if it means facing uncomfortable changes. However, her Taurus South Node represents the temptation to stay in her comfort zone—a space that feels safe but is ultimately eroding her independence and self-worth.

The Final Question

As I left the salon that day, I couldn’t help but wonder: will she embrace the energy of her Scorpio North Node and step into a higher version of herself? Or will she remain in the familiar safety of her Taurus South Node, allowing fear to keep her in a space that no longer serves her?

The universe works in mysterious ways, and perhaps my role in her life was to plant the seed of transformation. Only time will tell what path she chooses, but I hope she realizes the power and beauty of her journey—because she deserves so much more than mere comfort.
